MULTICORE+ proposes to advance the field of optical transport and cellular networks introducing multi-core fiber (MCF)-based technology applied to 5G New-Radio and Beyond-5G (B5G) cellular networks in the millimeter-wave (mm-wave).
The specific research objectives of MULTICORE+ include, between others:
- Development of optical beamforming technology employing MCF-based true time delays (TTD).
- Development RF mm-wave optical generation up to 330 GHz.
- Introduction of coherent detection in MCF systems.
